Changing Your Focus

Last week I presented you part one of Steve de Shazer’s solution-focused Brief Therapy and now I’ll show you the second part for when the first part doesn’t work!

If what you always did doesn’t work anymore:

  • Try something else!
  • Do something new!
  • Look for a different solution!
  • Do anything as long as you haven’t done it before!

This means simple: Don’t always do the same thing; hoping it will have different results than it had in the past. Instead, make a conscious decision to try something else.

The result is that you will have modified your focus and changed your behavior to achieve a different result than you had before.

Your life will be better right away and changes will come quickly and permanently!
